Struggles and How I Overcame Them

I  once experienced a struggle when I was Primary 6. It was the worst struggle I had so far. Why did I struggle this much? Would you like to know? This is how it went...

"Ten more minutes!" the examiner reminded my fellow ex-classmates and I when we were taking our Mathematics Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). "Oh no!" I whispered to myself, " Only ten minutes? How am I supposed to finish my paper on time? I have not completed the remaining four questions in Paper 2!" I continued. Trying to keep my composure, I told myself to have faith and believe in myself that I could finish it on time as our full potential is in our control. We should always have a positive mindset instead of being negative. I always remind myself this phrase whenever I have struggles. I finally completed and was in relief and got into the last part of the entire segment.

Checking the paper. It is also a very important step. As I had only four minutes left, I had to be fast in checking the paper as time passes like a bullet train that goes by but I still have to check it in the correct manner. What do I mean by in the correct manner? It means that I should not only skim through the solutions I wrote earlier but I also have to redo the questions. This is what I call checking as this will eliminate my carelessness. When I was done checking, the examiner immediately said, "Times up everybody, pens down."

I did it! I overcame my struggle by telling myself to have faith. The key point of writing this is to tell everyone out there to have a positive thought and not a negative one. Nothing is impossible if you always have a positive mindset.

Subject: Little India Riot

  Dear Wilson,
How have you been studying in Australia? Is it marvellous? Do you know that a riot happened in Singapore at Little India? It was horrific! I never expected something to happen like this in Singapore. It all took place after a driver driving a private bus knocked onto an Indian national Sakthivel Kumaravelu, 33, at the junction of Race Course Road and Tekka Land.

I wonder why would they want to create this riot? They are here to work not to create a chaos. Tourist would be afraid to visit Singapore after they heard this news. They would think that Singapore is an unsafe place. Some of the crowd even dare to flip the police cars when they arrived! I really pity the policemen in the car. The crowd are obviously unreasonable. Argh! I am very annoyed by this incident.

Ok, I got to go. I have a tuition to attend to. Hopefully my agony will reduce. See you soon ! Do write me an email when you see this. Feel free to ask me for the link if you want to see the news of the riot.

Love,
Wendy

The Story of the Escalator

"Flick!" I got switched "on" by Mr Lin, a security guard in the Sunshine Mall. He had been switching me "on" and "off" for the past ten years. Do you still not know who I am? I have been in the top news every year! I am the one and only one who always knows how to create trouble for others. I am the escalator! Now you know, I am very "well-known".  I created a huge trouble last year. That was the biggest one I had ever made. This is how mischievous I am. Do you still remember how the disaster happened? If not, follow me into this story.

"What another boring day," I sighed. " People have been stepping on me the whole day. Can't I do something from my to-do list?" To-do list! Everyone should be afraid when I have plans on the to-do list. One example is to stop the escalator when people are stepping off me. Wow! How creative am I! "Ouch!" I yelled. A boy just hopped onto me and kept jumping. "Ow, ow, ow! That hurts young man!" I reprimanded him in agony.

Just then, I heard a lady whom I assume that she is his mother said, "Honey, don't jump on the escalator, you might trip and fall!" The word "trip" pierced into my ears. My evil thoughts kept repeating this word to me. Why am I hearing this continuously? Suddenly, my expression changed. I smirked. I became the naughtiest of all. I noticed his shoelaces were untied and were hanging near to me. How about? Muhaha..

Closer... Closer... Closer! Gotcha! I managed to get the shoelaces stuck. Jump! I persuaded him. Jump! Just when he was about to jump, "Honey, your shoelaces!" reminded his mother. However, it was too late, he jumped. I felt something dripping on me. What is that? Just when I was about to take a look, I feared for the boy's safety. When I looked down, I was totally speechless. He had fallen onto the ground and blood oozed out from him. Everything was splatted with his blood. My handrails, the floor, everything. His mother then rushed to him and shouted for help. Just when Mr Lin was patrolling, he saw the incident and immediately dialed 995.

I was being switched "off" by Mr Lin and my thoughts were back to normal. "What on earth had I done? I just made a little boy fell," I reflected upon myself. Someone was running down my steps in great hurry. I guessed that it was the little boy's father. "Hold it there sir, hold it! Something split on me just now." I  tried to shout out loud but failed. "Woah!" A scream was being let out. His father fell too. "Oh no, I just injured two innocent people, how heartless of me." I thought. I dare not to look any further. I closed my eyes and tried to shut out all the cries of worry.

         Autobiography

 Dear fellow classmates and teachers,

My name is Ng Wendy from 1E1. I am a girl whose hobby is to play the piano. I started playing it when I was five years old. I became interested in playing the piano when I once passed by a musical instrument shop which sells all kinds of instruments like the piano, guitar, flute, violin and more. There was one instrument that caught my eye the most and that is the piano! I found it beautiful and would probably produce amazing sounds. Hence, I asked my parents if they could bring me into the shop. They agreed. I got so enthusiastic about the piano that I insisted on buying it. I promised them that I would play brilliant pieces of songs when I have learned how to play it. They said that they needed time to discuss. I pleaded them every single day until one day, they told me that they would buy me it. I was definitely very happy.

My favourite colour is white. I think that it looks nice and simple. However, there is one disadvantage about things that are white. If we do not take extra care of it, it will become very dirty. Although it is difficult to take care of things in white, I still love it. My favourite food are mostly Italian like pizzas, spaghetti, beef lasagna and more! I find them delicious and yummy that before I eat them , I will always take pictures. Something interesting about myself is that I do not like to watch cartoons since young. I find them boring in some ways. Whenever I turn to cartoon channels, I would always fell asleep. I would rather watch drama than cartoons as I find dramas interesting and there is a story to it. Furthermore, I know nothing about cartoons.

My good friends are Sioh Kuan, Amanda and Kylie. We care for one another, never gets into trouble and are never fussy. Sometimes, when one of us was feeling down or troubled, we will always help by comforting that person. They are my most closet friends in Primary School. Now, although the four of us are separated as we went different schools, we would still go out and contact one another. I will never forget these good friends. My favourite teacher in Primary School is Mr Lim Joo Ghee, my Chinese teacher. He is a very nice person. Although he punishes everyone when we are uncooperative and mischievous, we would have to write an essay but he would pretend to forget about it. Not only is he a good teacher, he also cares for our well-being. My expectations of Secondary School is that I would achieve better grades in all subjects and to be more independent.

I am the escalator! Silly! Now you know, I am very "well-known".  I created a huge trouble last year. That was the biggest one I had ever made. The less serious ones are me stopping halfway on purpose when people are standing on me. This is how mischievous I am. Do you still remember how the disaster happened?
